Campfires & Open Burning

A 3' X 3' recreational campfire is the only type of burning allowed in the City of St. Clair. 

Burning of grass, leaves, paper, waste materials, construction debris, etc. IS NOT ALLOWED.


RECREATIONAL CAMPFIRE REGULATIONS

SIZE

No more than 3' X 3' in diameter, with a flame height not more than 4'.

LOCATION

Campfires should be located at least 15’ from any structure or property line.

WOOD

Use only clean, dry, untreated wood in lengths of 3’ or less.

WEATHER

Wind and weather conditions should be considered prior to lighting a campfire.   

SMOKE


Minimal detectable smoke, odor or soot should be noticed beyond the property line.   

SUPERVISION

 
Campfires should be attended by a person 18 years of age or older.

EXTINGUISH

Extinguish the campfire completely before leaving the site.

SAFETY


Every effort should be taken to avoid creating a nuisance or a health/safety hazard when burning a recreational campfire.

BURNING BAN  

          
Recreational campfires are prohibited in the City of St. Clair when the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Dept. or other authority has issued a burning ban.
